WHEN FOOD IS LOVE Food is necessary to sustain life. Yet sometimes the hunger we feel is not for food, but to fill the emotional void. Do you turn to food to make you feel better? Yet, do you fight eating too much? This group program will focus on this struggle and offer ways to allow food to nourish you instead of hurt you. The purpose of this program is for you to learn how to express feelings instead of swallowing them and to break free of self-destructive eating patterns. We will be focusing on such issues as the diet cycle, hinging and compulsive eating, addictive behaviors, difficulties with intimacy, feelings of being out of control and more. Readings from the books. Overcoming Overeating by Jane Hirschmann and Carol Munter and Eating By the Light of the Moon by Anita Johnson and When Food Is Love by Geneen Roth will also be discussed. Participants will learn how to create realistic food programs, develop tools for managing eating, identify and understand feelings so they are not stuffed and hidden. A group is a wonderful way to learn from others' experiences and receive feedback and support. To be eligible for this group, you can have experience with bulimia, anorexia, obesity or just believe that your concerns with food are too central in your life.
