Depression:
A mental state
characterized by excessive sadness. Person could appear agitated,
restless, slow or retarded. Check the Thyroid gland. See note on Thyroid.

Thiamine, Evening Primrose Oil, Rutin 50 mg, Vitamin C.
Homeopathic: Tissue
Salt #6 (Kali Phos).
Diabetes:
Diabetes mellitus. A
disorder of carbohydrate metabolism in which sugars in the body are
not oxidized to produce energy due to lack of the pancreatic hormone
insulin. The accumulation of sugar leads to its appearance in the blood,
then in the urine. Symptoms include thirst, weight loss, and excessive
production of urine. The diagnosis should be done by a doctor. Often the
kidneys are affected
and there can be eye problems. Diabetes can sometimes be triggered by an
over indulgence of sugars and starches.
Foods: A diet high
in fiber.
Supplements: Vitamin
E, Evening Primrose Oil, Vitamin B complex.
Homeopathic: Arsenic
Diarrhea:
Frequent bowel
evacuation, or the passage of abnormally soft or liquid feces. Can be
caused by intestinal infections or other forms of intestinal inflammations
such as Crohn's Disease or colitis, malabsorption, anxiety and "irritable
bowel syndrome." Severe or prolonged diarrhea may lead to excess loss of
fluids, salts and nutrients from the body. Rest and warmth will help your
body rebuild.
Food: Diet should
be temporarily restricted to binding foods such as rye bread, concentrated
blueberry juice (1 tablespoon at a time), brown rice and baked potatoes,
rice and peas together, rice water, yogurt, applesauce, cheese, grated
apple, banana, cooked oats (nothing else added), aloe vera juice (1
tablespoon three times a day).
Supplements:
Potassium, Potassium foods, Magnesium
Herbs: Blackberry
tea, Echinacea, Acidophilus, Alfalfa, Slippery Elm, Red Raspberry. If
there is bleeding take 4 tablespoons of chlorophyll in water four times a
day for four days.
Homeopathic: Tissue
Salt #5 (Kali Mur), Belladonna, Aconite, Veratrum Album, Cinchona
Oflicinalis.
Digestion:
In digestive
problems the nervous system should be balanced. A long‑term digestive
problem can be an indication of a more serious problem and should be
checked by a doctor. For occasional short‑term troubles the following
suggestions may prove helpful.
Foods: carob,
parsley, chives, caraway, millet, buckwheat, cornmeal, oats, flax,
almonds, mint, rye flour, papaya, artichokes.
Supplements: B
Complex Vitamins, Vitamins B1, B2 and B3, Evening Primrose oil,
Hydrochloric Acid if this is lacking in the system, Bromelain Enzymes.
Herbs: Ginger,
Peppermint or Spearmint, the latter often preferred by children,
Chamomile, Valerian, Hops (may cause depression so use with care),
Calendula and Marshmallow for ulceration, Anise, Fennel and Dill for gas.
Homeopathic: Ipec,
Lycopodium, Nux Vomica, Carbo Vegetabilis, Tissue Salt #6 (Kali Phos),
Tissue Salt #9 (Nat Mur).
Dizziness
(from inner ear):
Try 50 mg. Rutin
and Vitamin C.
Eczema:
A superficial
inflammation of the skin mainly affecting the epidermis.
Eczema causes
itching, with a red rash often accompanied by small blisters that weep and
become encrusted.
Supplements: Zinc,
Liquid Chlorophyll, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Evening Primrose Oil, RABA,
Pantothenic Acid, Biotin.
Herbs: Red Clover
Tea taken internally and used in a bath, Dandelion, Aloe Vera (apply
externally or take internally).
Homeopathic:
Anacardium, Arsenicum, Graphites, Rhus Tax, Tissue Salt #5 (Kali Am Tissue
Salt #7 (Kali Sulph) (for wet eczema).
Ear Problems:
Monitor milk
products as the problems could be caused by a milk allergy.
Buzzing in the ears
can be caused by anemia, high blood pressure, digestive problems or bowel
gas.
Herbs: For
earaches, warm a little of one of the following: Mullein oil, Olive oil or
Garlic oil. Put a couple of drops in the outer
ear and allow them
to run into the inner ear. Apply to both ears even if ache is in just one.
For earaches Dr. D'Adamo has the
following
suggestions: Hold a warm baked potato to the ear for fifteen minutes.
Repeat several times a day until inflammation has
been drawn out.
Putting a couple of drops of warmed Olive oil into the ear first will also
help draw out the inflammation. Or use
a parboiled onion
(cut out the central core) and hold the onion directly against your ear.
This too will relieve the inflammation and
help reduce aches
and ringing sensations. If pain persists or if there is a fever, consult
your doctor.
Homeopathic:
Belladonna, Chamomilla.
Endometriosis:
The presence of
membranous material, of the kind lining the womb, at other sites within
the cavity of the pelvis. The endometrium may penetrate the muscular wall
of the womb, the ovaries, or the abdominal wall. The fragments of
abnormally located tissue pass through the same periodic changes as the
womb lining. Since there is no outlet for the bleeding that occurs from
them, the patient suffers severe pain for several days of each month.
Supplements:
Evening Primrose Oil, Manganese, one every second day until the package is
finished. Do not take any for six months then repeat.
Herbs: Cramp Bark.
Homeopathic:
Arsenicum Album followed by Viscum Album.
Epilepsy:
One of a group of
disorders of brain function characterized by recurrent attacks that have a
sudden onset. Idiopathic epilepsy is not associated with structural damage
of the brain. It includes grand mal and petit mal and is
controlled medically
by anticonvulsant drugs. Focal epilepsy is a symptom of structural disease
of the brain and the nature of the fit depends upon the location of the
disease in the brain.
Supplements:
Folic acid foods, Zinc,
Silicon (see list of Silicon foods at back of book), Vitamin B6, usually
large doses are required.
Herbs: Valerian, Black Cohosh, Mistletoe.
Homeopathic: Agaricus, Cuprum Metallicum,
Ignatia, Lycopodium, Stramonium, Tanacetum, Hyoscamus.
Eyes:
Foods: carrots,
persimmons, yellow vegetables, cayenne.
Supplements: Vitamin
A, Vitamin B2 (for burning), Vitamin BI (if there is trouble focusing),
Evening Primrose Oil, Zinc.
Herbs: Eyebright,
Eyebright tea, Cayenne. For sore or inflamed eyes, make a tea of eyebright
and golden seal. Cool and strain.
Use the liquid as an
eyewash three times a
day.
Homeopathic:
Euphrasia (but do not take Eyebright or Eyebright tea while taking this
remedy).
