Shingles: (Herpes Zoster).

This condition usually starts with pain along the distribution of a nerve (often in the face, chest or abdomen),

followed by the development of vesicles. The disease subsides in three weeks, though sometimes severe pain

may persist for many months in the area of the affected nerve. The virus that causes shingles can also cause

chicken pox in children.

Pantothenic Acid

Herbs: Echinacea.

Homeopathic: Ranunculus Bulbosus, 45M, one a day for 3 days, wait two or three days. Rhus Tox 200, one,

three times a day (four hours apart); one in the morning and one in the evening of the second day, and one in

the morning of the third day. Arsenicum 200, one a day for three days. Repeat same remedy if necessary.

Sinus Congestion:

with the nose. Symptoms include headache and tenderness over the affected sinus area.

Foods: Check for milk allergies.

Supplements: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Pantothenic Acid.

Herbs: Mullein, Comfrey, Fenugreek, Garlic. An old remedy is to boil one pint of water and add one

teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of baking soda. Cool and add one tablespoon Witch Hazel. Use this

solution to sniff up the nose and spit out through the mouth. Do this several times a day. Lean over a

warm bowl of hot water containing a few drops of Eucalyptus Oil, with a towel over the head to keep

the moisture contained. Slowly inhale the fumes.

Homeopathic: Tissue Salt Combination Q (Ferr Phos, Kali Mur, Kali Sulph and Nat Mur), Kali Bich.

Skin:

The skin is one of the organs of elimination and it is very important that it be functioning properly. It is

made up of the epidermis and dermis. The epidermis protects the body from injury and from invasion by

parasites. It prevents the body from becoming dehydrated. It acts as an organ of excretion by the

secretion of sweat and, as a sense organ, it contains receptors that are sensitive to heat, cold, touch and

pain. If the skin is working properly it takes the stress off other organs, allowing them to work better.

Foods: Avoid greasy foods and sugar. Drink five to six glasses of water a day. Follow Yes/No list.

Bodywork: Make sure bowel is working well. Oatmeal baths and pure oatmeal soap are very soothing.

Body brush.

Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Zinc.

Spleen:

The spleen is situated on the left side of the body, below and behind the stomach. This organ produces lymphocytes which remove worn out red blood cells and other foreign bodies from the blood stream. It also acts as a reservoir for blood. It is part of the lymphatic system. When the spleen is not working properly there are a number of natural methods one can use to trigger its rebuilding.

Foods: Wheat germ oil (one teaspoon three times a day taken on a salad is nice), eat fertile eggs, make chicken feet soup, eat foods rich in iron. Supplements: Potassium, Magnesium, Vitamin C.

Herbs: Dandelion, Yellow Dock. Homeopathic: Tissue Salt #9 (Nat Mur), Medorrhinum (pain in spleen area).

Sprains:

Herbs: Steep a handful of Linden flowers in a pint of hot water. Infuse for 15 minutes. Soak a linen cloth

in the infusion which should be body temperature, and apply for 20 minutes.

Homeopathic: Tissue Salt #1 (Calcium Fluor), Arnica as soon as the sprain occurs. If the sprain is a few

days old, a mixture of Arnica, Hypericum and Rhus Tox 200 can be taken. Hypericum helps to repair the

nerves while Rhus Tox works on tendons and back pain. Arnica helps take the shock out of the body.

Stomach:

The stomach lies just below the diaphragm, to the right of the spleen and partly under the liver. Its function is to continue the process of digestion that begins in the mouth. Gastric juice, secreted by gastric glands in the mucosa, contains hydrochloric acid and the enzyme pepsin, which contribute to chemical digestion. This together with the churning action of the muscular layers of the stomach, reduces the food to a semi liquid partly digested mass that passes on to the duodenum.

Foods: To help ease stomach problems, foods like goat's milk and millet are very soothing. Eliminate

regular cow's milk. Remember to chew your food very, very thoroughly. Never rush a meal. It is better to

miss a meal than eat it quickly. It is too hard on the system. Do not drink with your meals as you only

dilute the digestive juices. Conversation at the table should be limited and pleasant. Don't try to settle

problems while eating. Nothing is gained and the stomach will only become distressed. Learn to manage

and hopefully eliminate stress.

Supplements: Evening Primrose Oil, Hydrochloric Acid (if a meat eater), Bromelain enzymes (if

vegetarian).

Herbs: Licorice tea, Cayenne, Peppermint, Aloe Very juice, Papaya. Some people have found cabbage

juice a great help. Take as follows and drink very slowly: l ounce cabbage juice to three ounces of spring

water for four days, then two ounces of cabbage juice to two ounces of water for another four days,

then 4 ounces of cabbage juice for four weeks. Starting slowly is the key. Camomile and Valerian both

have a calming effect on the system.

stomach), Pulsatilla (bloating, upset stomach), Ipec, Arsenicum album.

Any factor that threatens the health of the body or has an adverse effect on its functioning such as injury, disease or worry. Constant stress brings about changes in the balance of hormones in the body. It can lead to a damaged intestinal tract.

very useful.
