Dr. Douglas J.
Phillips, Jr. D.D.S. Dear Friends, For those of you who don't know me or my work, let me tell you a little about myself and my approach. In the late 1970s my traditional, restorative dental practice shifted to a more specialized focus on patients with chronic headaches, facial pain and TMJ dysfunction. Over the years, I became curious as to why some of these patients healed well while others did not, even though the treatment therapies were identical. This prompted me to dig deeper into the causal factors involved. I began to study Biological Dentistry in the early 1990s, which is concerned with the dental contributions to chronic illness and pain. I learned that the body's immune and autonomic nervous system needed to be cleansed of toxins and pathogens, many of which are lodged in the jaw, before healing can occur. It was at this time that I realized that in order to successfully help my difficult-to-treat patients, they had to be evaluated holistically -not just the dental aspect. As a new patient, you will surely want to know my educational background and how I have prepared myself for my practice, so I include it here.
In early 1990s, I studied neural therapy and biological dentistry under Dr. Deitrich Klinghardt. I advanced to the study of heavy metal toxicity and the toxicity from jaw cavitations, root-canaled teeth and other areas of the mouth that cause health problems. In further studies with Dr. Yoshiaki Omura I learned about the Direct Resonance phenomenon and added it to my diagnostic tools. This procedure allows us to identify and eliminate intra-cellular bacteria and viruses that are deposited in the jaw bone as well as other body organs. My approach now to dentistry is focused on treating and eliminating the dental contributors to chronic illness. I work in concert with medical practitioners from all specialties to treat and heal the whole body, not just the mouth.
